Stewarding A Mother's Love

Today?s message on Mother?s Day has one point about a promise. How do we steward our mother?s love? The way we steward our mother?s love will determine how a God-size promise will come to pass. We are going to start first with one thing. We all believe that our mothers are the best. I know for me, my mother was the best. She always found the best in me like most mothers. Like our Heavenly Father, our mothers want the best for us. So, how do you want to have God?s hand on you? How many of us want to know how things will be well with us? How many of us would like to know the secret of time management so we could make best use of our time? Where do you get that? No, we do not get them from Chinese herbs or multitasking or working harder or other stuff? We get it from the promise that God has in His word?it is actually from Exodus 20 but adapted in Ephesians 6.

Let us read in the Book of Exodus ?

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Exodus 20:12

If you know what the Bible is really saying spiritually, you will begin to honor your father and mother. As a part of the ten commandments, we need to obey our mother and father. Most especially today Mother?s Day, we need to remember the fifth commandment. We need to see the spiritual importance of this specific commandment.

Mothers are the conduit of God?s love to us. She carried us for nine months. God co-works with her to put all the potentials God created the us to be. Among the potentiality are our gifts God has given. We are flesh of her flesh and we are bone of her bone. When a child rejects his or her mother, it is very painful. A mother views it as rejecting her own self. For God, when we reject our mothers or both parents , it is an imaginable grievance.

Why does God place so importance about mothers in the Bible?

Let us read the next Bible verse from 1 Corinthians 13?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1Cr 13:4-8

God places so much importance about mothers in the Bible because a mother?s love resembles God?s love. Mother?s love never fails us. She is patient and kind. She brings the best out of us like God?s love.

Next, we want to ask ourselves our main question of how do we steward our Mother?s love? First, let us define what steward means. The definition of steward is to take care of, and to manage while being careful to administer according to the owner?s intentions. Do you think a person could use it for their own purpose? Yes, they could misuse it. Would God still love us? Yes, He would love us but that is not the question. How do we steward our mother?s love? Like God, we need to steward our Mother?s love by obeying her so that the promise in God?s word will come to pass.

In conclusion, today on Mother?s Day we want to thank our mothers at New Hope for giving us so much love that resembles God?s love. We are grateful. Happy Mother?s Day!
