New Hope Notes

The Gift Of Youth
A Season Of Gifts

Pastor Wayne Cordeiro
December 8, 2002 - W0249

So sorry! We were not able to post a full summary of this sermon. We are a volunteer-driven ministry and our volunteer for that week was not able to complete the ministry. Shucks! We will have another volunteer try to recover the summary soon but in the rush of the holiday season we beg your grace as an extra task is not at the top of anyone's Christmas list.:) Thank you for your kind understanding and prayers for our minute ministry. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions: dawn@eNewhope.org.

Following is the Sermon Notes (not a Summary:):

The Gift of Youth

"Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth... before the sun, the light, the moon and the stars are darkened, and... the grinding ones stand idle because they are few... and the doors on the street are shut as the sound of the grinding mill is low." (Ecc. 12:1-4)

1. STEWARD EACH SEASON WELL.

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven" (Ecc. 3:1).

A Word to Youth:

2. MAKE LEARNING YOUR GOAL.

"A poor, yet wise lad is better than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to receive instruction." (Ecc. 4:13)

"Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity." (1 Tm. 4:12)

          * Find Godly Mentors

"When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent." (Ex. 33:11)

          * Develop the Disciplines of Life.

"Listen to counsel and accept discipline, that you may be wise the rest of your days." (Pr. 19:20)

A Word to Elders:

3. ACTIVELY BUILD A NEW GENERATION OF GENUINE AND GODLY LEADERS.

"'But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go before this people, and cause them to inherit the land....'" (Deut. 3:28)

"That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born...  that they should put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments..." (Ps. 78:6-7)
