Dreams and Visions
Richard WaialealeGenesis 31:10-11 (NIV)
10 "In breeding season I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled or spotted.
11 The angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am.'
Throughout the O.T., God would use dreams and visions as one of many sources to communicate with people. But with the completion of the Bible, God does not have to use dreams and visions as much as He did before or like he did with Jacob and other heroes in the O.T.. That is not to say that He cannot or does not; God can communicate with us however He chooses. But when we have a decision to make, our first stop should always be the Bible.
What the Bible teaches me is that God’s promise for my life will come in many different shapes and forms. It can even come in a dream if He chooses. But the most widely used way of God communicating with us is His voice in written form, and that’s the Bible.
In Luke 21:33, Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Our New Hope Bible Creed
"This is my Bible
The Word of God
And I boldly declare
This is the highest law in the land
I am what it says I am
I have what it says I have
I do what it says I do
I am a Citizen of Heaven."
