Sacrifice is the investment to greatness
Richard WaialealeMark 10:29-30 (NLT)
29 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News,
30 will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.
This is how incredible Jesus is because He follows with a teaching moment for the disciples and for us, and Jesus is saying, “I just want to let you know. I assure you what you sacrifice will be rewarded a hundred times over, and, as a special bonus, you’ll celebrate forever with God in eternity.” You’re going to be rewarded for your sacrifice.
I love Jesus’ math here – a hundred times over. What Jesus is saying here is you’re going to be rewarded both now and eternity.
Sacrifice is the investment to greatness.
Jesus is saying if you sacrifice one house for My sake, one hundred doors are going to be opened. That’s amazing.
If you sacrifice one relationship that’s keeping you from a close relationship with Me, you’re going to see a hundred relationships where love will surface that is so much more vibrant.
You sacrifice one habit that is destroying you, you sacrifice it for My sake, I’m going to give you a hundred new habits that will enrich your life.
You sacrifice your riches for My sake, and you will experience a depth of richness in your life that you could never dreamed of.
Our part is sacrifice, God’s part is the hundred times.
When I made the commitment to become a shepherd, that was for life. That was my oath, my covenant and promise to God - and He has blessed me a hundred fold. Till today and in the future, I am not interested in any outside job offers of a million dollars, government job to think I’m going to change the world, or any lucrative business venture. My commitment to those in this church is to be a shepherd.
Father I thank you for blessing me as a shepherd for Your people. I pray You continue to guide me and use me for directing Your church. Through the fire and through Your blessings we keep our eyes on the One leading us in Jesus Name I Pray. Amen.
