The Revealing & Shining Light
John TiltonMark 4:21-23
He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”
What Jesus shares about the light of a lamp is so true that one doesn’t cover a light and disuse the lamp for what is was meant for. Instead, one would use it as it is meant. So likewise, metaphorically, the good news of Jesus Christ was not meant to be hidden, but instead shown and illuminated, and all that hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ are called to example and share His light.
This speaks to me in two ways. The light of the Lord that illuminates what sometimes is not of His will and subsequently; what I may want to be hidden would be illuminated by the Holy Spirit for me to address and change. Then, because I hopefully change through Jesus and His work in me, that I would then be a light that shines forth His goodness, as an example and testimony. Thus, it is through His light that what needs to be revealed is revealed and is what shines as a testament to Jesus!
Dear Lord, I invite you to shine your line on me to reveal in and to me that which I need to lay before you and respond in obedience. I pray that subsequently, I would change those areas in my life that need to change so that I then will be a shining light of your love, grace and your heart working in and through me.
