A Hardened Heart
Marsha KochiExodus 14:4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
Pharaoh was full of hate and contempt, and made foolish decisions. His wisdom now turns into confusion and jealousy and he forgets what he says to Israel when he let them go. God pursues to ruin Pharaoh because of Pharaoh's desire to ruin His people. God is glorified because He is committed to His promises; His name to be declared.
Just like Pharaoh, if I were to be spiteful and jealous, I will end up a tyrant. It's so hard to forgive when you've gone down that long road of anger and revenge. Jealousy and unforgiveness follows, and nothing good can happen after that. Though these scriptures are over 2,000 years old, it is applicable to me today. I need to always remember to not let my heart be bitter towards anyone or anything; it's just not worth the consequences.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. Help me to always release and surrender to Your Will. Help me to never be so tied into sin, that I am blinded to see the truth.
