Believing, Receiving and Following
Marsha KochiJohn 1:9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
Jesus was rejected by His own people, not everyone would receive Him, but those that did, received life, then they had eyes to see and ears to hear. John is saying that when we receive Jesus into our hearts, out of a new birth, we become His children. Life and death is determined by our choice to choose Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and be able to see, or reject Him, and be blinded and in darkness.
God has given us a gift in His Son. The fact that some will reject Him, tells me that it's also a gift to have the willingness to receive and accept Him as Lord of my life. It's more than a hand raised and a glance at the evangelist saying the sinner's prayer that says I am saved, it is changing my life, and allowing Him to lead.
Lord, thank You for Your Word. Jesus help me to see, to hear and to walk in Your ways. Keep my ears tuned in to Your voice, and keep me actively seeking Your Will.
