Good Friday
Tim Savage3I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.4He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
58So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Corinthians 15
It is Good Friday and I stop now to consider the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ and Father God made for us. I long for the goodness and glory of Easter when He rose. I want the sunlight and joy that comes on that day, but today I must remember the pain, the suffering, the agony and the travesty of the crucifixion. It had to happen because He loves us. It had to happen because only He could save us. It had to happen and now I must be eternally grateful because I don’t deserve it and I cannot earn it. I can only accept it and appreciate the gift. There is nothing I can do to repay what was done for me except to live in a way that memorializes the sacrifice of His death and the power of the resurrection.
I am honored to be able to serve Him this weekend. There is a lot of work to be done to receive those who will come to church, but I will consider it all joy to be given the opportunity to be a part of it. I am thankful that we have been given favor so far in our preparations. I also appreciate my hard working team who has met every challenge with a positive attitude, skill and expertise. I will rejoice this Easter in the midst of the obstacles and difficulties. I will focus on what’s important and will be a positive influence on those around me to make this the best Easter celebration ever. I am excited for those that will accept their gift of eternal life!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for Your shed blood on Calvary. Thank You for rising again with victory of death and the enemy. Thank You for the free gift of salvation that I can never earn or repay. Thank You for Easter.
In Jesus name,
Amen
