Who am I Imitating?
Rod ShimabukuroTherefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. [2]And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2
“Therefore” indicates a supernatural shift, contrasting the love and holiness of Jesus to be imitated, with chapter 4’s list of sinful imitations. Deceit, anger, callousness and hardness of heart, greed, corrupt talk, bitterness are among the list of imitating the flesh.
The Holy Spirit is calling the Christians of Ephesus and beyond, to BE JESUS LOVE as an imitator of God, wiht the conviction to sacrifice their lives to be pleasing to God.
THEREFORE be IMITATORS OF GOD...as my child Rod, says the Spirit of God!
But you will need to give yourself up - your ambitions, sinful wants, desires, even the “great pursuits of the ministry.” Your sacrifice will be smelly to you because My fire of conviction is purging your sinful flesh. But your sacrifice to Me will be a fragrant aroma and offering. For I will give you grace to walk in love - because I love you more than you can comprehend.
So continue choosing to surrender your heart to Me, says the Lord - I will make you and imitator of My heart and life.
Dear Father, Jesus and Spirit of God!
WOW! WOW! WOW! Thank YOU ALL for calling me to be a child and imitator of Your Godhead. I am more than honored, blessed. Please HELP ME to commit my life to You, every day - throughout the day. I Love You ALL!
