You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” 14The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Moses had been a faithful follower of the Lord. In spite of the trials, weather, lack of food and water, but especially the grumbling of the Israelites he had remained faithful to God’s call upon his life. When even his own brother Aaron was led astray, the one he was supposed to rely upon, Moses remained faithful. In verse 13 he says “if you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may find favor with you”.
In life we go through many times of trial and uncertainty. We are in our own deserts with grumbling all around us. Those we are close to, they me be family or friends, cause us pain or reject us. The example from above is to keep our face pointed to the one who loves us and will never forsake us. The rock whose promises remain true forever and ever. If we continue to seek the Lord and “find favor with him” he says in verse 14 “my presence will go with you, and I will give you rest”. This is a hope and a comfort where we can place our trust. As for me I yearn for His presence to be with me.
Lord thank you for your promises. You are my rock in whom I place my all in all. I yearn to be in your presence, to seek your ways and to receive the rest that only you can provide. Amen.
