The Gospel is worth everything
Ken SilvaPhilippians 1: 27Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.
“If the Gospel is worth anything, it is worth everything”. The Apostle Paul exhorts the church in Philippi to “stand firm in the Spirit for the faith of the Gospel”. The church faced a lot of opposition. Those that proclaimed to be followers of Christ were under attack. Only through unity of mind and purpose, an unwavering love for God, would the young church survive and prosper.
Here we are many years removed from the time described in the scripture. We as Christians are still facing a tremendous amount of opposition. Christ has been removed from the educational system. Our elected officials are enacting legislation that is in direct opposition to God’s word (same sex marriages). When you are in court you don’t swear upon a Bible or say the words “so help me God” anymore. So what is the foundation, the underpinning that we are proclaiming the truth upon? The main stream media promotes programs that erode the fabric of what this country was founded upon. Almost everywhere we look, everywhere we turn the Church is under attack. Now more than ever we must be bold, steadfast and willing to stand up for Jesus Christ in our homes and our communities. If not us, then who? If not now, then when?
Dear Lord we come humbly before you recognizing that you are in control of these crazy times we live in. Please give us strength to be the light that attracts others to you. The light that shines the TRUTH before all men. To be willing to stand in the gap for the sake of the Gospel. Dear Lord we love you. Amen.
