Moved by a Centurion
Calvin Kochi9When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 10And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well. Luke 6:9-10
Jesus marveled at the faith of this centurion. It amazing because this man did not know Jesus personally he only heard of Jesus, yet he knew that Jesus could heal his servant. If I just heard for someone doing miracles i think that I would be more skeptical that believing. It was this centurion’s character not just faith that caught the attention.
This centurion knew the power and authority that Jesus had. He knew that all Jesus had to do was speak the words and his servant would be healed. He also knew that he was unworthy to even be in the same room as Jesus was. This man that would command hundreds was unworthy of even having Jesus in the saw room as himself. what a contrast to the religious leaders who questioned Jesus authority to heal the sick, They even consider Jesus to be working for the devil. Am I willing to sumit myself to Jesus and to trust Him and to know that all Jesus has to do is say the word and healing will take place. What ever Jesus says it do i have the faith to know that it will be done. Jesus is still alive today and still healing people who are will to humble themselves to ask and believe that Jesus can and will heal.
Just like the faith of this centurion that caught you attention Lord. May you strengthen my faith and my unbelief?
