Peaks, Puddles & The Presence of God
Jon Burgess“The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.” Psalm 97:5
In the presence of God the impossible, the immovable, insurmountable becomes inconsequential. The Psalmist reminds of the the perspective that flows from the presence of God. Sure, I can try to climb this mountain of relational, financial, spiritual obstacles by my own strength and determination and waste all of my time and energy doing so. I can also wait on the Lord and watch him turn the towering peaks of all my problems into puddles at my feet.
Recently I found myself at the foot of a mountain so big I couldn't see the peak for it was lost in the clouds. I didn't know where or how to start. So I didn't start. I stopped. I sat at the feet of My Savior and studied His Word. I journaled out all of my worries and fears about the issue before me and then I just waited. As I did, slowly but surely The Holy Spirit began to speak to me heart. Part of the perspective He brought me included these words to my spirit: "I've got you covered." Instantly I felt an indescribable peace, an overwhelming confidence and saw a way to move forward. What had just happened in that hour of prayer? My peak became a puddle in the presence of Almighty God!
I pray that I would pursue Your presence before, throughout and above all else. I pray that is would spend less time staring at the mountain and more time staring at You my Jesus!
