You Can Never Hide Sin
Carl Higashi1 Timothy 5:24-25
24The sins of some men are quite evident, going before them to judgment; for others, their sins follow after. 25Likewise also, deeds that are good are quite evident, and those which are otherwise cannot be concealed.
In Paul’s letter to Timothy, he writes to the young leader about sins that are clearly evident. He wants Timothy to live a life above reproach and be an example for others to follow. He explains how sin committed can have an outward expression that brings about judgment upon those who commit sin quickly. Then there are those sins that nobody knows about, that will come to surface through a period of sifting, trial, or testing.
Just as good deeds are clearly seen, evil deeds that are done in secret will be revealed and brought into the light. It is all a matter of time.
As I was on my way to exercise this morning, I was distracted and took a detour to Starbucks then on to Subway. So instead of doing what I was supposed to do, exercise, I turned to the dark side of coffee and a sandwich.
Just before sitting down to drink my coffee and enjoy my sandwich, Fran comes out of nowhere and sees me just about to eat the sandwich, I’m literally caught in my sin. (As we are on a no processed flour diet.) Clearly evident to Fran, but not evident to others, this is a reminder to me that God sees all my sins and sees everything that I do.
To be restored back to Christ (and Fran), I repented just ate the insides of the sandwich (without the bread) and worked-out intensely with Fran this afternoon. Praise God!
- Remember, God sees all sin small and big. Seen to human eyes and not seen.
- Be quick to confess and repent.
- Be willing to be held accountable
Lord, thank you for your love for me that You would allow the one person in this world who loves me the most to catch me sneaking a sandwich. Thank you for the love that you have for me to correct me in private, although I also get to share this devotion publicly. Lord, I’m sorry and repent of these “hidden” sins and thank you for the gracious reminder, correction and wonderful accountability partner that you have given me in my wife. I am blessed and may in continue to confess and repent of all sin quickly.
Love you Lord with all my heart! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
