To See God’s Promise
John TiltonLuke 2:29-32
“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”
Through Simeon’s words of joy and affirmation, we see Simeon realize what the Lord God promised in terms of enabling Simeon to see Jesus, that Jesus would be the light for the Gentiles and the glory of the people of Israel, even if they doubted who He truly was.
What I see through these scriptures is a man of faith, who heard from the Lord, never doubted, and just waited upon the Lord due to Simeon’s trust in God and His faithfulness. Truly I am blessed to know that Jesus was meant to be my Savior by an all loving God, and that I must cherish the gift of Jesus Christ and not take He and my relationship with Him for granted whereby things of the world are overshadowing and distracting me. Rather, I need to connect with Jesus as my light and Savior more in my life.
Dear Lord, you are so faithful and your promises are true. May we focus on your promises and faithfulness rather then the things that will distract us from worshipping and love you.
