Living A Life That Will Last
Richard Waialeale2 Thessalonians 3:6 (NIV)
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
Back in the days, people misunderstood what was meant concerning the Day of the Lord. They thought that since the Lord was coming soon, there’s no need to continue working and simply fall into living undisciplined lives. What Paul was saying here is to avoid being influenced by those that became lazy.
The problem that didn’t help the situation was people were being persecuted and growing weary for spreading the Gospel and doing what was right. So it was easy to bend towards laziness after struggling with being under attack.
How does this affect me today?
Anytime we make an impact in the world, guarantee you will undergo attacks. When you make an impact on the world, jealousy happens. People criticize you for what you’ve done.
If I'm going to finish strong, I’ve got to do some heart-checks. I’ve got to check my motives, I’ve got to look at my actions, meaning, is it really based on love and concern and care for others?
Be enthusiastic everyday, persevere, be courageous, care for people, love people and work hard for people. Live a life worthy of God.
God, “I want to live a life that lasts.” “God, I'm asking for Your strength in this moment to get me headed in the right way.” I pray, that You would strengthen me and encourage me and urge me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
