Heart Too Hard to See Miracles
Doug Buhr“And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, "Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? HAVING EYES, DO YOU NOT SEE? AND HAVING EARS, DO YOU NOT HEAR? And do you not remember, when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?" They said to Him, "Twelve." "When I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?" And they said to Him, "Seven." And He was saying to them, "Do you not yet understand?"”
Mark 8:17-21 NASB
Jesus asks twice, “do you not yet understand?” It was easy for the disciples to ask the same questions over and over. Where will we get food seemed to be on their minds a lot. Given the state of the Roman Empire this question was valid. But they saw miracle after miracle and still doubted that Jesus would provide food.
I have seen many miracles over the years. I used to bask in amazement when something unexplainable happened, but these things became so commonplace that I stopped being amazed.
It is time for me to start being in awe of God again. He still watches over me, and he is doing the miraculous every day. I only need to pay attention and I am sure I will see the miraculous again.
Lord, thank you for the things you do daily that I take for granted. Help me to see the little things again that I have stopped attributing to your hand.
Amen
