Never Know Who’s Watching
John TiltonHebrews 13:1-2
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
I love this reminder by the apostle Paul of the love we should have as those that are blessed to know the love of Jesus Christ, as He loved and loves us, giving His life for ours. Furthermore, understanding how we are called as believers in Christ to share that love with others by our actions and relationships. For who knows, who is watching us, or who we may come in contact, including angels or those sent by the Lord?
Having the privilege to serve in full-time ministry at our wonderful church of New Hope Oahu, I recall many occasions in public venues and the community where I run into people that I know from church, or people from church that know me as a pastor, yet having not had the pleasure of getting to know them prior, I end up meeting them at that moment, where they will come up to me and say “Hi Pastor John!” Surprise! This will then result in my thinking … hmmm, what was my demeanor, witness or countenance at the time, knowing that I like all of us can be in different moods at different times. Paul’s word is very clear in that our love bestowed by Christ should be ongoing and consistent, both for our loved ones, friends, peers and strangers. We never know who’s watching or who will be observing us when we don’t know, thereby bearing witness of Christ within us when we least may realize it.
Dear Lord, may my heart filled by the Spirit and example through Christ be a heart of love in all seasons, regardless of any trials or tribulations I may be going through. May I example the heart and love of Christ to all.
