Permission to complain
Richard WaialealeJob 7:11 (NLT)
11 “I cannot keep from speaking. I must express my anguish. My bitter soul must complain.
The book of Job gives us permission to vent, to cry, to grieve, to be angry, complain and to be depressed.
The life of Job is proof that we usually have no idea what God is doing behind the scenes. We all ask the question “WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?”
Job was a believer; he knew that God is on the throne, He is in total control, and he never lost faith in God even though he couldn’t figure out, why so many terrible tragedies were occurring in his life.
For a long time Job was unable to see beyond that dark place that he was in.
He tried to defend himself from the false conclusions of his friends and in so doing was unable to see areas of needed growth in his life.
The observation is how do we get out of this dark place we find ourselves in at times.
As we read Job, the grief of losing wealth was nothing compared with the agony of losing his children. And then when Job’s health falls apart, paralyzing him with a sense of helplessness.
But here’s the key: Trust, because Job hung onto his integrity and his faith in God. For me today, I must do whatever it takes to get back to Jesus. Jesus is the answer and reading about Him in the Word of God will ease the pain and suffering, bring healing and comfort when everything appears lost. The bottom line is the fact that we will be in heaven one day, and all this pain and suffering will be gone. No more pain, no more crying, suffering - the old order of things will pass away.
Thank you Jesus for healing me of my pain and suffering with Your Word’s of comfort. Amen.
