Vote with my Life
Richard WaialealeJohn 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
I’ve heard this term “vote” use in several different ways. For instance, when people vote with their feet, it means they will not speak or use words but react by making a decision by walking either in or out.
There’s another one that says people vote with their life, meaning they sacrifice and be the example with their lives. But in the case with Jesus, He was ready to die for a cause, that’s radical. Jesus was one that voted with His life. He exampled the ultimate leader willing to give His life to accomplish His purpose. Jesus died for our sins and defeated death. His cause was that important for the world and for all of humanity.
When I understand how much was sacrificed by Jesus, I too want to vote with my life. I may not sacrifice to death, that’s not something I’m made of nor it may not be what Jesus wants me to do. But I am willing to sacrifice my time, my desires, my entire life (without dying for the cause), to live and vote with my life for Jesus. This means I must take the time to love others as Jesus would; to reach unbelievers as Jesus did; to save lives and win souls for Christ, because I believe it’s that important to God. All that comes first in my life for the rest of my life. That’s my definition of voting with my life.
Father, I pray that Your call for my life becomes stronger and stronger each time I recognize how Your Word that examples the life of Christ. I vote with my life that You may reign in me and I walk in the presence of Your love. Amen.
