The Precious & Integral Cornerstone
John TiltonPsalm 118:22-24
The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.
The definition of a cornerstone is the keystone of a stone structure, which is also considered as the foundational stone. The psalmist reminds us that Jesus was that key cornerstone that was rejected by the Jews. However, we then realize through the Word of God, that Jesus who was rejected has become the keystone and foundation of all life in God’s plan that through Jesus, mankind would have the opportunity to be saved and live in eternity with God.
A cornerstone of a building is indeed so key and important, as it needs to set perfect plum and straight in terms of the desired line of the subsequent stones that will be put in place to the sides and on top of the key cornerstone. Jesus does in fact represent the perfection and precious cornerstone. Yet, it can often be the laying of the subsequent stones of those of us that would have the opportunity to build our lives on the cornerstone that may not lay right in relation to Jesus the cornerstone. Subsequently, based on our fault, later stones of others or ourselves will be affected in misalignment, thereby causing the foundation to be out of plum and alignment. Yet, if we are wise to correct back to the cornerstone, which is in perfect place and alignment, we can correct ourselves and our lives to be in that correct plum, place and alignment, which we and others can then build on that strong foundation which has not defects or misalignments.
Dear Lord Jesus, may I always remember to correct back to you, the perfect cornerstone
