Jesus Prays For Me
Tim Savage16They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 18Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
20“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. John 17
Here are a couple of very important lessons in John 17. First, learning His word teaches us truth, which we are to take in to the world and second, Jesus has prayed over each of us who believe in Him. Now that’s very cool. I had never really realized that before, that Jesus, Himself, has prayed over me personally. I understood that He loves me and knows me as only a Heavenly Father can, but there is something so intimate and personal about Him praying for me. Prayer requires thought and knowledge – time and effort spent. My Savior is more than just an omniscient and omnipotent being that answers my prayers; He knows me and cares about me, wanting the very best for me.
God is all knowing and all-powerful and that is enough to warrant my love, service and worship. But He is so much more – He is merciful, caring, full of grace and love. He doesn’t just deserve my worship, I want to worship Him will all of my heart, mind, soul and body. He thinks about me, cares about me, prays for me and guides and directs me to a deeper relationship with Him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
There is nothing I can do to earn your love or my salvation, but You give it to me freely anyway. May I serve You well with my entire life. May I represent You to others, so that they might want to get to know as their Lord and Savior.
In Jesus name,
Amen
