Love
Jay Miura1Corinthians 13:1-3
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
The Apostle Paul here in the opening of the famous love section in 1Cor, is driving home the emphasis for necessity of love. Paul uses five examples of spiritual gifts and equates them as worthless with the absence of love.
I love this love Chapter. It is always a blessed reminder for me, of the love that Jesus poured out on me with all of His life and it also reminds me about how I need to be living in love for Him. The list of what love is in verses 4-8 is a constant reminder that I fall so short of the Jesus kind of love that is exampled here. Jesus was and is so patient and kind with me. He knows that I am a work in process and that He is refining me by the fire of the Holy Spirit. He is teaching me to be patient and kind with my wife and children by being patient and kind with me. It is crazy how The Spirit moves us to be more like Him. He is not a monster that forces us to do anything. He is our loving Father that gently teaches me come do it like Daddy.
Dear Jesus thank you for showing me how to love. I am so grateful that you never give up on me and that your love endures forever. I repent for not loving like you. So often I love with my love and not Yours. Please help me to love like you. I love You Daddy. Amen
