Holy Spirit is in me

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Acts 2:4 (NLT)

4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Observation

The filling with the Holy Spirit is separate from the baptism of the Spirit. The Spirit’s baptism occurs once for each believer at the moment of salvation, but the Spirit’s filling may occur not only at salvation but also on a number of occasions after salvation.

Jesus told us that when the Comforter has come He will be with us and in us. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17). In other words, Jesus is sending one like Himself to be with us and in us. Amazing!

Application

The ministries of the Holy Spirit can involve feelings and emotions. At the same time, I shall not base the assurance of the possession of the Holy Spirit on how I feel, but that the Holy Spirit lives in me and I have the assurance of His indwelling in me. Take confidence that the Holy Spirit is living inside of me and that I have the opportunity to stir it up.

Prayer

Lord let Your Spirit give me the power and strength to do Your ministry and to serve You all the days of my life. Amen.
