GOD IS LOVE, FAITHFUL, RIGHTEOUS, JUST!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

Psalm 36:5 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. 6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. 7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

Observation

The God of the Old Covenant (Testament) is consistent and constant in love, faithfulness, righteousness and justice. This description of God’s character: love, faithfulness, righteousness and justice is also the foundation for how He acts and interacts with His creation. V6 - He preserves His creation. V7 - He becomes a place of refuge. V8/9 - God provides life, sustenance. He guides and directs as light. There’s “abundance, drink and the fountain of life.”

In the face of trouble, evil people acting with evil intent in an evil world, the psalmist prayer is one of trust and faith in the God who keeps covenant. No matter the evil, obstacle, trouble, persecution…the foundation of His character and ways are trustworthy.

Application

My heart is grieving, praying and in want and need of trusting God. Following the primary presidential race, the candidates don’t give me confidence for a bright American future. Oh yes - I trust God and believe evil will grow more evil and the world will not be “a better and brighter place to live.”

So preserve Your people O Lord and I take refuge in who You are, trusting You to direct and oversee America and the Nations!”

Throughout the centuries God has been, is and will continue to be Love, Faithful, Righteous and Just! And I do trust Him. Pastoral ministry has always allowed me to witness people experiencing victories and successes AND failure and trials. Even now, supporting, serving and shepherding people who are desperately hurting, who have great needs…

...may I and we, as Your church, live and obey Your voice. That we would love, care, help others in practical ways. May I live more selflessly. Rid me more and more of my self absorption!

Prayer

Thank you God - Thank You sooooooooo sooooooo much God… for being Love, Faithful, Righteous and Just - as God, overseeing my life, the family you’ve blessed me with, the valuable friends and children of God at Manoa and beyond…

Thank You for the church of God in Christ, throughout Hawaii, Kansas City, Japan, Okinawa, Nepal, Philippines, Australia, Middle East, Europe, America, Asia, Africa, South America…Your church throughout Your world! You are Love, Faithful, Righteous and Just!
