Understanding Jesus

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

John 3:9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you[f] do not receive our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

Observation

Nicodemus could not understand the spiritual relationship that he needed to have with Jesus, all he could see were the signs and wonders. His faith carried him only to question Jesus, not receiving or understanding the depth of what was being said to him.

Application

My yearning to learn more, to read more, to hear more, should never cease. The excitement of being taught by the scriptures that have been God breathed upon, should never leave me. The Word can never be something that I set aside, without it first piercing the inner person in me.
I need to constantly be educated by the Word, live and walk by that truth, so that my faith, trust and belief in Him never waivers; no matter what tries to hinder my walk with The Lord.

Prayer

Thank You Lord for teaching me through your word how to grow deeper in my understanding of who you are, and how you desire for all to have a close and, intimate relationship with You. Help my eyes to see and my ears to hear, so that I don't lose focus of your plans.
