Called, Commanded, Empowered and Entrusted

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness,in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages beganand at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior; Titus 1:1-3

Observation

I love how Paul establishes his role, position for the sake of Jesus and others. In this case to Titus. Paul’s description of himself is not about him, or written to be proud or to exaggerate his position/authority. There is an intentional establishing of his calling, his heart...for the sake of something greater, bigger than himself. It’s for the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth.

But the bigger truth is who God is in Paul’s introduction. The God who never lies, is a promise and covenant keeper, revealing His word - His truth through Jesus...and now entrusting and commanding Paul to preach His word.

Application

I feel spiritually commanded, emboldened and impassioned - to preach and teach His truth. My standings, background, resume is no where near to Paul’s - but that’s not my foundation. Jesus calling and command, HIs truth entrusted to me, being a God who will fulfill His promises, will equip me to be bring knowledge and truth to the body of Christ.

And this call to preach is also meant for me to instruct and reach non Christians. To share and live the truth with them. I am called and commanded by God - and empowered and entrusted to preach His Word.

Prayer

Dear Lord -
Thank You! Thank You for who You are - Truth and Love are intrinsically flowing from Yours, to my heart. I love You, Your presence, Your Spirit, Your Word. Thank you for opening my heart, spiritual eyes - for giving me a hunger for You - to be like You - to be conformed and transformed into Your Image. Thank You for calling and commanding me to be Your ambassador! WOWZAH’s - I am so honored and blessed to be called Your son!
