A Fresh “NOW” Word

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. Not with our fathers did the LORD make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today. Deuteronomy 5:2-3

Observation

Moses delivers God’s commands - the 10 Commandments. He reminds the children of Israel of God’s commitment to them. There’s a “NOW purpose and relevance of the covenant being made with that generation - not the previous one. As if to suggest that God is God of the now, into the future. The promise and covenant is not an old one for a previous generation

Application

I want to live differently by listening to what God is speaking to me now - today. There are visions, missions, callings given to other great leaders, pastors, people - but I feel like the Lord is saying He is speaking something fresh to me. Something personal to me. He is on covenant with His people - including me. What He has spoke to others, may not be for me - but I must listen intently what God wants to say and accomplish to and through me.

Prayer

Dear Spirit of God. Thank You for making a lifelong eternal covenant with me. Thank you for the faith that You’ve begun in me - and for strengthening me to believe in and live for you! May I not only obey Your 10 commandments - may I hear and know the fresh commands You are speaking to me. Help to to obey the Fresh, NOW Word You are speaking to me. Thanks for Howard bringing me Your prophetic word. Be with and bless him :)
