When Is It Enough

Calvin Kochi

Scripture

5 When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. 6 But when they opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” Acts 18:5-6

Observation

The Jews in Macedonia were not open the the preaching of the Good News. in fact they were outright abusive Paul, Silas, and Tomothy. These three men were not stranger to this kind of treatment they had suffered in worst situations. So they were not leaving because of the abuse that they faced, but beause they new that they had much more ahead of them and new when to leave.

Application

I think the lesson that I have learned from this is truly knowing when enough is enough. We as Christian’s can have a tendency to want to keep on pounding a person win then to the Lord or to hammer them to convict them of there sins. Paul knew when to call it quits and shook of this coat and left. This verses also remind me to keep from foolish arguments that my lead to hurt and offended people. Knowing how much to say or knowing how little to say is so important. If I handle it properly the responsibility will fall on the right place. I must allow the Holy Spirit to help me navigate my heart in those times.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for reminding me to know when enough is enough, and to trust you to handle things when my emotions and frustrations can get the best of me.
