The Lord Goes Before Us

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

1 Corinthians 2:1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Observation

Though his flesh is weak and his words may not be as eloquent, and he may feel that he lacks everything that is needed, Paul delivers the message. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit in Paul, that he is able to do this. Paul purposely focusses on the Cross, so that there is no doubt who his strength and wisdom come from.

Application

When you are done speaking, when the nervousness that you had before the event, starts to subside, and when you don't feel nauseated anymore; the reality sets in and you know that the Holy Spirit spoke through you. No doubt in my mind that His infinite wisdom takes over, and it is received by those who hear. It doesn't have anything to do with what I studied, nor what words I used to come across clearly, but it has everything to do with being that vessel that the Lord uses for His Will to be done.

Prayer

Thank You Lord, for going before me, and preparing the way. I know that there is not one thing that I can say or anything that I can do to reach a heart, but by way of the Holy Spirit. Help me to have faith and to trust, even when it is out of my element of comfort, may I rely solely on You. Thank You for Your Love and faith in me.
