Did God put a Silver Cup in your life?

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

and put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, with his money for the grain.” And he did as Joseph told him. Genesis 44:2

(45:5) …God sent me before you to preserve your life!

(45:16) When the report was heard in Pharaoh's house, “Joseph's brothers have come,” it pleased Pharaoh and his servants.

Observation

and put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, with his money for the grain.” And he did as Joseph told him. Genesis 44:2
Like Joseph, God may use a silver cup in our lives, to get our attention. God may use a “silver cup” person or situation to get us to retrace our steps toward provision and redemption. Whether a silver cup, anything or anyone in my life, God seems to set me up for provision and redemption even when I don’t deserve it.

(45:5) …God sent me before you to preserve your life!
Joseph could’ve played some pretty mean “pay back” tricks of his brothers. I probably would’ve. But he didn’t. In fact the heart of compassion, kindness, brokenness is clear through Joseph’s response. And I think Joseph’s adamant and deep trust in God and His purposes is clearer!

(45:16) When the report was heard in Pharaoh's house, “Joseph's brothers have come,” it pleased Pharaoh and his servants.
Joseph revealed who he was to his brothers, after tricking them to believe that Benjamin stole a silver cup. Pharaoh and his household must have really, really loved Joseph. Their reaction was not envy, bitterness, coldness of heart but rather a pleasure and rejoicing of Joseph’s reunion. Joseph’s story of being sold into slavery, of what his very own siblings did to him was not a secret to his Egyptian world. Joseph was favored by God and received favor from Pharaoh and his household.

Application

I’m so thankful to God for always setting me up with “silver cup” situations in my life. He is so great, sovereign and loving! He has His Kingdom Purposes in life and I want to continue submitting my life to Him - for Him to use me in whatever way He pleases. To give my life no matter what the silver cup looks like. I may feel betrayed, used, set up… but I want to deeply and adamantly trust my God.

I know he is greater than Joseph - a God who goes before me to preserve my life and the lives of others. I know He is the kind of God that will surround me with favor, with Him and with man.

Prayer

Thank you for all the silver cup situations You've place in my life to get my attention - to retrace my steps. Use me to preserve life - I want to give my life for the family you’ve blessed me with. Set me up Lord, to be a blessing to Beckie, Kai, Koa and Malia! Thank You Father, Jesus, and Spirit of God.
