Put something aside

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
[2]On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. [3]And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. 1 Corinthians 16:2-3
Observation
Paul cares for the needy in Jerusalem as he writes in the close of his first letter to Corinth, for the people to set aside money for the needy in Jerusalem. He doesn’t’ say 1% or 5%, but just to put something aside and store it up.

He also writes that everything we do should be done in love. It’s God’s love that compels us to do good deeds - or at least it should be.

Application
It is in my heart to be a giver and one way I can give is to set aside something for the sake of the needy in Honolulu. I can set aside a little finances, food, my time to serve - as the Lord leads, I desire to obey what He directs.

I’m thankful that the Lord set aside the most ultimate gift - His will and life - for me. I’m thankful for His resurrection life, living in me.
Prayer
Dear Daddie - Help me to set aside my will, wants, desires for the sake of the needy in and around my life. Thank you for setting aside Your will, wants and desires - giving Your life for needy me. I still feel so needy - for Your grace, love and life. I love You Lord Jesus!
