WISDOM FROM WITHIN

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

Proverbs 4

V4. he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live.

V20. My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.

Observation

Chapter 4 teaches us about wisdom, what it is, how we acquire, experience and live it out. Solomon instructs his sons, children to pay close attention to his words and instructions. He warns them of the dangers of avoiding wisdom, waling towards evil and the fruit of learning and adhering to His guidance.

Application

For me, to keep and live out God’s wisdom has to start and come from my heart. I can keep commands, live a good wise life - but when it’s not really in or from my heart…it’s superficial!

But another thought is that I must be attentive to words of wisdom - found in God’s Word, in conversations with people. The Spirit of God speaks to my heart through so many people, circumstances…but I MUST BE PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION.

For me that means really engaging in thought, heart, motive, mind, eyes, body language…but it starts form the insides of my being. This attentiveness inside - to pay very close attention to God’s voice, that comes for me, in various ways and forms, through various people and circumstances.

Prayer

I love you God of Wisdom! May I pay super close attention, with a fully surrendered heart to You, Your voice. Help me to pay close attention to the people, circumstances - good, hard or bad…that I may know You, love You, serve You with all my heart!
