The Doors

Jeff Weinkauf

Scripture

Revelation 3:7-8

7“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:

These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Observation

There are things that only God can do or undo. I live so well in the natural, that it’s sometimes hard to comprehend God’s influence. This is America! We can do anything we want to (or don’t want to). No restrictions, if we have enough drive and will power anything can be done. God however can (and does) open or close doors soundly. When He chooses to provide an opportunity, regardless of our ability, our strengths or lack of, it’s ours to walk through. Our obedience cements His favor.

Application

When God calls me to do something specific He has a plan. He’s considered my involvement, and even my inadequacies and He still makes the offer. I must take the step of faith and walk though the door He has opened.

Prayer

Father please help me to see the opportunities only you can provide. Help me to walk boldly through these doors. Please also help me to recognize those you have sealed shut. Help me to follow your plan closely. Amen
