Stay The Course

John Tilton

Scripture
2 Timothy 3:14-17 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Observation
Paul states reality of the times so clearly when he reminds Timothy of his persecutions and what to expect from evildoers and imposters. Yet Paul’s words are such a clear statement of fact and truth that Timothy should stay the course of what he learned through the Lord, that it came from the Lord, and how God’s word could apply in all worthy matters so that they as servants would be ready and equipped for good.
Application
Here today, it is no different as we see the world and its people in the current state of affairs, which has drifted further south and away in moral fortitude, character and faith. We will and do see the unfair and unjust ways of the world and how society is going further and further in this ungodly direction. To battle the tendency or allure of the world, getting blind-sided by persecution and challenging times, we are reminded and directed to stay the course of the Lord, turning to and leaning on His word to face and defend ourselves with all of the various attributes of His word. However, it is not intended for our pleasure, but rather for serving the Lord God for His will and purpose.
Prayer
Dear Lord, guide me that although I may live in the world, may I not be of the world. Please guide me that I will stay the course directed and taught by you in your living word. Equip me Lord to serve you and be totally guided by you for your glory.
