The wrath of the Lamb!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

[16]calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, [17]for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” Revelation 6:16-17

Observation

From kings to slaves, all people are told of in this passage to be hiding themselves from the Lord. This is a pretty extreme contrast, desiring death rather than facing, the face of God. The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world has wrath to display and distribute. The Lamb of God and the wrath of the Lamb doesn’t seem to go together, but it is HE…Jesus. He is love and He is holy!

Application

I am filled with awe and appreciation - unit the Lamb. Reading through the judgements of God and being on His side, in Jesus, saved and safe calls me to adore Him like never before. Apart from Jesus, His love and grace, I would be facing the face of God and the wrath of the Lamb.

I am also wanting to be filled more and more with the fear of God. I keep exploring this fear of God phrase, realizing that there is a “ holy and just fear and afraidness of God” woven into it’s definition. Being afraid in a holy and healthy way of my jealous and consuming God, calls me to deeper desires to living out my worship. What does that look like? Sinning less in areas that I’m sinning to much.

Prayer

Dear God ALL Powerful, mighty and transcendent!

Thank you that I can pray to Your face rather than hiding from your face. That I can fall to worship You for who You are as GOD, rather than being fiercely judged by falling rocks and mountains. Thank You that I can stand confident through Your mercy, rather than standing before your wrath! O GOD - THANK YOU!
