OVER-emphasize Jesus!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:4-6

Observation

Paul continues through ch 2 emphasizing Jesus - His life, His work and accomplishment, for the body of Christ. While speaking to individuals - we need to recognize that he is writing to a family - the body of Christ - a community of believers fmor a mixed background, culturally, spiritually, socially. These were Jew and Gentile believers.

Because of God - who He is in love, an all knowing and understanding God - who loves His people so, so very deeply - He has initiated making us alive in Jesus.

Application

Sometimes I emphasize - even blow up too much, the issue of my sinfulness - it’s heaviness and consequences . I don’t mean to minimize the greatness of God - but since I live in this body of sin, I get too caught up at times in dealing with my sin “stuff” - my “issues.“

Today I am once again reminded and encouraged (THANK YOU JESUS!) of God’s rich mercy and great love for me - even when I mess up or am a mess within. The profound truth is that I am positioned with Jesus in Oneness, by grace - and made alive spiritually. I have absolutely no need to feel like I have to work for or earn my acceptance with Jesus.

So today, I accept being accepted by Him - no if’s, ands or buts! He loves me no matter what - signed, sealed and delivered! I OVER-emphasize my Jesus more than my issues!

Prayer

Thank you Jesus! I mean ....THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!! Thank you for accepting me, no matter what I’ve done in the past or my shortcomings in present. I’m thankful for Your work in my heart - to change me - to help me love You through my issues and downfalls! I want to OVER emphasize YOU.... I worship You!
