My life IS NOT my own!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. [23]For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Luke 12:22-23

Observation

We humans are so imprisoned by anxiousness and worry. My quest to satisfy my worldly cravings draws my heart towards materialism and away from contentment in Christ.

There’s a very real and sobering seriousness Jesus communicates to his disciples about living for and with Him. I feel like the earlier passages in ch. 12, establishes the clear and high calling to be Jesus disciple. Jesus reminds His disciples to beware of the sin of the Pharisees, don’t fear who can kill you in this life but fear the One who holds the power of life and death in His hands. Jesus communicates the omnipotence of Creator God as Provider - God cares. Then the contrasting decisions of one who denies and rejects Christ, and the disciples, who KNOW JESUS. The Holy Spirit will speak to and through them in life threatening times.

AND THEN JESUS SAYS…. No Worry about your life Bruddahs…!!!

Application

To live differently today, this week and the rest of my life for Christ, means thinking and believing differently. It means I need God’s help to change my inner sinful standards of wanting to be secure financially, be comfortable through having ”possessions of my choice“, the evil greed in my heart to want bigger, better, best.

God has and is changing my heart. I do desire to be ALL in and live ALL out for Jesus. There are parts of my life that I think reflect the work of HIs Spirit in my life. BUT… there are deeper, ungodly desires, thoughts, motives - that I MUST keep before the Lord. I must be real with Him, my wife, my accountability friends. I must continue to feed on His word and realize my life is not my own. That’s it… MY LIFE IS NOT MY OWN!!!

Prayer

Dear Spirit of God,

I do love You - I desperately need You and I totally want to know my Father and Jesus through You. It’s You and your persistent work in my heart that keeps me close to Jesus - that convicts me of my sinfulness - that transforms my inner being, thoughts, desires, motives that only You see sooooooooo clearly!

Thank you Spirit of God! Please continue to draw me near, to transform me - to become more like Jesus and to live to please my Daddie God!
