Mentoring

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

Titus 2:4-5“These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.”

Observation

As elders, we are to teach the younger women the ways of the Lord. The commands that He needs us to heed as women of God, are valuable for their futures and for the welfare of all.

Application

Women have a lot of influence on the family and on others. The dynamics of a home presents itself with many complications if the mom is not present or if she is not actively nurturing. I know how much I've either impacted in a positive way, or had a negative effect on my children, by how they are today. As an elder, I need to share with the younger women how to be a good mom, wife, and person. I need to example well how to be submitted to my husband, the headship of the family. I need to example how important it is to be a mom that teaches her children to love Jesus, and to love one another. The things that I lacked in bringing up my children, I have a second chance to speak into my grandchildren's lives.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for the great mentors that you've sent to me through the years. Help me to be one that will mentor well, those that you have trusted me to care for.
