The god of my flesh

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
[3]you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. [4]You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:3-4
Observation
There were False prophets and dreamers, who claimed to have visions and divine revelations, urging and leading others to follow them and their gods. But Moses says that this comes as a test form God… not the devil. We know the devil is a part of ungodly lies to follow other gods and idols. But a test from God for His children? Why would God have to or want to test us?
Application
Today, knowing that I’ve tested my kids faithfulness, dedication or love for me, realize that my Heavenly Father has a godly jealousy over His kids. As a father, I want nothing to get in the way of my kids love for me - but humanly speaking, they have failed my tests. Selfishness as I’ve seen, has been one of the largest stumbling blocks for them… and SO IT HAS BEEN FOR ME (in my relationship with my DADDY GOD!)

While I desire to love God with all my Heart, fear Him, serving and waking with Him - I don’t talk, act or live like it many times. I’ve been quick to confess… “ MY public witness can look pretty good - it’s the private one that is hypocritical!” My inner character, motives (FLESH!) and my attitude behind closed doors with my family that has proven to be evil at times.
Prayer
Dear Daddy God! Please continue to help me loving You, from the core and depths of my heart. I know You love me - help me not to yield to the god of my selfishness, pride and ALL flesh! Thanks for Your ongoing love and grace - even when I don’t past the tests. The god of this world is doomed - may the god of my flesh continue to die!
