Humbled and Ready?

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

And the angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O mighty man of valor.” Judges 6:12

Observation

The Israelites, once again were being disobedient to the Lord. The Lord allowed His children to be oppressed by the Midianites. They began to call on the Lord for help. Disobedience to the Lord in this story brought oppression from their enemies.

Gideon was the chosen and appointed man God called to be Israel’s leader. What an opening statement from the angel of the Lord! Considering the oppression, grumbling and disobedience of God’s kids - the Lord seems to make a strong statement to Gideon. The Lord sees beyond what man sees - like He did with Gideon. Gideon needed the assurance form God, based on the fleeces he made before the Lord. He wouldn’t have needed this kind of STRONG ASSURANCE and word form God?

The LORD IS WITH YOU O MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR!

Application

It’s as if I’m hearing this word - for a calling that is beyond my desires, abilities, giftings...!
The LORD IS WITH YOU O MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR!

This kind of word is not meant to make me feel good, affirm my authority or position before people, etc. I’m personally hearing the BIG BOLD CAPITAL words and statement in my heart and soul...The LORD IS WITH YOU O MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR! I don’t want this word to be over shadowed by my doubts, fears, unbelief, desires, selfishness, lack of confidence - etc.

So my heart is to walk in whatever the call of God is for my life. To obey Jesus.... but He knows that I’m like Gideon. He knows the assurance, affirmation, words, answered fleeces - I need (or want) from Him.

I’m humbled to hear this word - but am I ready to obey?

Prayer

Dear Jesus!
I hear Your call, Your word - to know that You have and are developing me into a Mighty Man of Valor. It’s for You, unit You - not to fulfill my wishes and dreams and purposes. Help me to hear you with ears to fulfill Your hearts purposes - for Your people - for Your Kingdom!
