The Demon Possessed Man

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

Mark 5: 6 Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; 7 and shouting with a loud voice, he said, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!” 8 For He had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”

Observation

The Gaderene demon, knew who Jesus was, he knew the authority that He held. This demon did not want to leave this man. The demon was well aware of what Jesus could do to free this man. Even demons are subject to Jesus, it's the human will that is difficult to break.

Application

Growing up in a Christian home you would think that I would have known better than to get involved with the worldly things. But my stubborn free will could not conform to what was right, instead I lived in darkness. I look back, and can see why so many are being tormented; they simply cannot submit. Our human will is so selfish and full of sin. It seems easier to do what the world offers, until you submit to it, then it's like a trap, and you can't get out of it. The mind set of darkness is deceptive, unforgiving and evil. Demons, and even animals know of Jesus, they bow down to Him, and worship Him, but the human will chooses to move away and run from Him, and then crucify Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your forgiveness, for Your grace, and for teaching me daily through Your Word. Help me to submit to Your Will for my life.
