Transitional Storms

Richard Waialeale

Scripture
When I read Mark chapter 4 in its entirety, I discover a lesson that teaches me about God’s Word and how it grows in me.Mark 4:3 (NIV) 3 "Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. Mark 4:9 (NIV) 9 Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
Mark 4:26-28 (NIV) 26 He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain--first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
Mark 4:35 (NIV) 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Mark 4:38 (NIV) 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion...
Mark 4:40 (NIV)40 He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
Observation
In our lives, we all go through transitions. I call them transitional storms because throughout our lives we are just transitioning time and time again. Transition is the ability to go from one place to the next (as Jesus told his disciples in Mark 4:35). Jesus said let us go over to the other side. To transition from this place to another place. And if you’re going to move in transition, there’s a few things we have to know if we’re going transition well. It seems like our life is one big transition. It’s interesting to me that just about the time we get good with one thing – all of a sudden there’s a transition in our life. You will find in life that constantly you will go through transitions. Life will put you in scenarios you did not count on: plan on; and life’s situations will shift you in a way – and because you weren’t planning on this, often enough, we don’t transition well. But if we don’t make the transition – we will be doing yesterday things for tomorrow’s people. And you get left behind, because life is one big transition. The Bible says Jesus was standing on a boat in the sea of Galilee and teaching the multitudes sowing the Word of God, a parable of sowing seeds. Jesus said let’s go across – they’re in a time of transition. Now when they get out in the middle of that lake in the sea of Galilee, all of sudden a huge category 5 storm hits, and Jesus is asleep. But He already sowed the word into them.
Application
When you get in the transitions of life, and you’re trying to get from one place to another place, and a storm comes, and Jesus is no where to be found. Jesus is saying, I have already put in you the messages you need. I have already taught you about praise. I’ve taught you about consistency, wisdom, patience, faith. I’ve taught you about prayer, that you keep beating on the door, and you keep asking, asking and asking. Jesus is saying to us when I will not wake up I want you to bring forth the seed that I have sown in you. The Word of God is in you. It is enough to get you to the other side. If Jesus says you’re going over to the other side, then bless God, You’re going to the other side.
Prayer
Father thank you for Your Word that resonates in me. Holy Spirit stir up in me that when transitional storm hits, the Word of God is all I need to get to the other side - In Jesus Name. Amen.
