All expenses paid relationship

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate always at the king's table. Now he was lame in both his feet. 2 Samuel 9:13

Observation

David initiates connection with Saul’s household, to show kindness to any of Saul’s surviving family. Ziba, a steward of Saul’s estate told David of Jonathan’s crippled son Mephibosheth. David took Mephi in, gave him proceeds from his rule over Saul’s land and invited him to dine at his table. All expenses paid in other words for Mephi, who received the benefits of King David’s kindness.

Application

What a beautiful picture of King Jesus showing me kindness, inviting me to an all expenses paid - unlimited feast at His table. Jesus is my eternal bread of life, who also invites me to His banqueting table into eternity. Mephi’s lame and crippling state represents my spiritual need for Jesus - who accepts me in my crippled spiritual state - but He completes me, healing me of the crippling effects of sin.

I want to live different in adoration and gratefulness to my King Jesus! His kindness and forbearance leads me to repentance. When I see my crippling nature, I know in my heart that my King still loves me! He accepts me and still invites me to be with Him - to dine with Him. Which speaks of relationship and communion with my King!

Prayer

Jesus - You totally rock! You are indescribable, incomprehensible and undefinable when it comes to trying to describe your love and kindness. Being a King - a Ruler.... I worship and reverence You. But I’m so thankful for an all expenses paid relationship where - I don’t need a special pass, ticket, badge - to be with You. I love you!
