The Very Greatness of God!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, Psalm 104:1
Observation
The opening verse of this song declares the greatness of the Lord. The Psalmist sings of the creative work of God throughout this psalm. I love how the opening line begins with the splendor and majesty of God. He recognizes first the beauty and magnificence of his Lord. The Lord is his personal God - “My God!”
My God is not only great - He is very great. When I think of great - I think of BIG like huge Ships, Aircrafts. I also think of brilliant wisdom - like what God gifted mankind - to create and be creative: Golden gate bridges, world wide internet, satellite, space crafts and travels…! God is very great in creativity and wisdom - most evidenced by HIs handiwork.
Application
Because of the very greatness of who God is and the honor that I can call Him “my God” through a personal relationship - I proclaim from my soul… Bless the Lord! My soul needs to align with this attitude of how Very Great and Big and Wise MY God is!

My soul gets muddied. The cares of the world - paying bills, financial strains, dealing with my greedy nature - overspending and transition of life my kids are growing through. My thoughts and attitudes in my soul is warned to realign with the Very Greatness of My God! I need to continue to speak of HIs greatness, setting my thoughts, repenting of my worldly attitudes and reactions. Like a child who runs to sit in his daddies lap, after receiving grace and love for being naughty… I run to You… My Very Great and Loving God!
Prayer
Dear Daddie. Thank you for always being consistent in Your faithfulness - being a Very Great God, no matter what I do, how I act - You never change in Your love for me. You are MY GOD - and I am soooooooo Very Very Very Grateful! My soul cries out - You are MY VERY VERY GREAT GOD and I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!
